Devotional #1

I am going to start doing daily devotionals taken mainly from the scriptures. These are often used are the beginning of classes or when you want to invite the spirit in and are usually fairly short (a couple of minutes long or so). If you're a member feel free to use them or just to feel the spirit yourself.


Doctrine and Covenants 10, 15-16 says:


 10Remember the ^aworth of ^bsouls is great in the sight of God;

15And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one ^asoul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!

 16And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the ^akingdom of my Father, how great will be your ^bjoy if you should bring many ^csouls unto me!

Notice that in verse 10 it doesn't say something like: The worth of Facebook is great in the sight of God; rack up as many farmville points as you can! Instead it say the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. So, isn't it evident that many of us probably need to refocus our priorities? It seems that we need to spend less time on the computer, phone, TV, or ipod; and spend more time striving at missionary work. We need to pray for missionary opportunities and find them. We must "cry repentance unto this people" and preach the gospel whenever the opportunity to do so arises; and I testify that as we do so, "great will be your joy". I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
